Based in East Lansing and serving clients throughout Michigan, Ben Hall Law represents people in criminal defense and personal injury matters. The firm was built around a simple idea: when someone is facing the power of the government, an insurance company, or another institution, they deserve an advocate who understands the system and is prepared to stand up to it.
Legal problems are rarely just legal problems. An arrest can threaten a career, a reputation, and a family. A serious injury can disrupt a person’s health, work, finances, and plans for the future. Founder Ben Hall brings an unusual perspective to that work. Before becoming a defense attorney, he served in the United States Marine Corps, worked for years as a police officer, and later served as a prosecutor. That background means our firm understands investigations, evidence, charging decisions, and courtroom strategy from more than one side.
Whether we are defending someone accused of a crime or representing someone injured by another party’s negligence, our job is the same: understand the facts, protect the client, and pursue the strongest result the circumstances allow.
Our Founding Perspective
Ben Hall Law was shaped by Ben’s years of public service before entering private practice. His experience in the Marine Corps, law enforcement, and prosecution gave him a firsthand view of how institutions operate—and how much power they can bring to bear on an individual.
That experience now informs both sides of the firm’s work. In criminal defense, it helps us understand how police investigate cases and how prosecutors assess evidence. In personal injury matters, it reinforces the importance of careful investigation, documentation, and holding powerful organizations accountable when their actions harm someone.
The firm’s philosophy is straightforward: know the facts, know the system, and prepare thoroughly. We do not assume that an accusation is correct, that an official report tells the whole story, or that an insurance company’s first position is fair. We investigate, ask questions, and build the case from the evidence outward.
That perspective continues to shape how we advise clients, negotiate on their behalf, and litigate when a case needs to be fought in court.
